Explore, Learn & Play!

What to expect at a Messy Senses parent / child messy play session:

  • A safe and secure environment for your little ones to explore
  • A friendly and fully trained staff team with enhanced DBS checks
  • An inclusive class structure that has been designed to cater for all ages and abilities
  • Fun, vibrant and educational activities that vary each week to maximise new development opportunities
  • 95% edible (all food allergies catered for) and 100% non-toxic resources to allow development through taste
  • All new parents / carers are given a warm welcome and key information sheet to help them settle right in!
  • All of our activities are linked directly to the national curriculum (Early Years Foundation Stage) to provide a solid structure for personal development
Cleanliness is of paramount importance to us, therefore for each session we:

  • Use fresh edible resources
  • Sterilise all equipment in child friendly Milton solution
  • Wash all fabric resources at min. 60 degrees to kill any germs (NHS guidelines)
  • Ban the use of swim nappies as these do not absorb urine
  • Store all equipment in a clean environment
If you have any further questions, we would love to hear from you. Please feel free to speak to any member of staff either before or during the session.

How long is a Messy Senses class?

Our sessions are all 60 minutes, which includes:

  • Welcome song with a variety of musical instruments for you and your child(ren) to play
  • A 'run-down' of all activities on offer
  • Free-flow play and exploration
  • End of session bell to commence wash-down and stickers

Weaning Through Play!

The weaning process can sometimes be very daunting to a new parent and their baby.

Babies will naturally begin to put things into their mouths when they reach the oral stage of development, something every child goes through.

Messy play is an excellent way of turning a potentially stressful situation into one of enjoyment and fun (whilst building precious memories at the same time!).

Some of the benefits of 'Weaning Through Play' include:

  • empowering your baby to explore and taste at their own pace;
  • allows parents to share and enjoy similar experiences together;
  • an increase in confidence to explore news foods and textures;
  • being encouraged to taste different flavours through play rather than necessity;
  • provides variety, stimulating your babies taste buds;
  • pressure being taken away from focusing on the food as a meal by turning it in to an open-access play tool;
  • hands-on food based play is linked to food acceptance and sensory brain stimulation;
  • parallel play with peers encouraging role modelling (i.e. copying) and social learning.
  • weaning within a safe and secure environment alongside fully first aid trained staff.

We would love to help support and guide you and your baby during this very exciting development milestone!
