So who are 'Messy Senses'?

Our Ethos

Messy Senses is a family run business that is passionate about learning through play and giving preference to the process of exploration rather than focusing on an end product.

Sensory exploration helps to stimulate all aspects of brain development. It is about allowing an individual to take what they want from the activity rather than being solely parent / carer led, keeping it personal to each individual, regardless of their age and ability.

Our aspiration is to open up pathways to new experiences through senses exploration within safe and secure environments.

Messy Senses is the brain-child of Louise. She has over 20 years of experience, within child development, education and health & social care, supporting those with both mainstream and complex healthcare needs. She has achieved Level 3 NVQ in Childcare and Education, Level 5 Leadership & Management Diploma, a Foundation Degree in Health & Social Care and is fluent in Makaton (Children's Sign Language). Louise has also volunteered as a local pre-school governor and, most important of all, is the proud mum of two beautiful little girls!

Ian is the resident 'clever clogs' and is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer, working 9-5 within the rail industry.  He has a PhD and a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Although he has learnt a lot about child development over the years from Louise, his involvement in Messy Senses is mostly 'Behind the Scenes'. You never know... he may pop in to say hello during one of your sessions!

Amelia is our very own, home grown tester... no activity gets approved for Messy Senses without her say so. She is our first born and absolutely loves goo, slime, putty and all things MESSY! You can see the excitment on her face when we suggest messy play at the weekend... she'd play for hours!

Olivia is our smallest member of Messy Senses and has the best job of all... playing, exploring and learning along the way! She loves the feel of different textures on her hands and feet but nothing beats making a mess with her big sister!
